Meet Drs. Geoff & Lynne at Health From Within

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day this month, we want to celebrate and recognize couples who work together in business everyday.

Meet high-school sweethearts Dr. Geoff Rawson & Dr. Lynne Rawson from Health from Within!

  1. How did you both meet?
We met in high school here in Burlington in the summer of 1989.  I was 16 and Geoff was 17 years old.  While I went to Assumption and Geoff went to MMR, we met because one of my friends was dating one of his friends.  Although we remember seeing each other for the first time at different places, we were very quickly hanging out all the time!  And the rest is history…
  2. Why did you start/open your business?
We started back in 2000 due to a strong calling to help improve the health and the lives of the community that we grew up in (and currently live in).
  3. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your business. (i.e. What is your unique offering?)
About us: We have been married for over 20 years (were high school sweethearts), been chiropractors for almost 20 years, have 4 children, and have always had a love of being active.  Geoff played hockey in the OHL for the Niagara Falls Thunder, has run 9 Boston Marathons and 3 Ironman triathlons.  Lynne played on the Canadian National Soccer team, has done 2 Ironmans, and was inducted into the University of Guelph Sports Hall of Fame.
About our business: Families choose our office because they want a natural approach to better health.  They are looking for a place that can not only help them with their aches and pains but can truly guide them and give them the tools to live an exceptionally healthy and fulfilling life.  Our office enjoys such high levels of patient satisfaction because we explain everything in advance.  We utilize the latest chiropractic techniques and technology with our on-site digital x-ray, and mostly paperless system. Our unique correction process is why people are referred to our office from all over the GTA with a variety of health concerns.  Inside the office you will find a variety people from infants up to the elderly.  We see people of all ages and activity levels due to our additional training with children and pregnancy, and our proficiency in many Chiropractic techniques.
  4. When did you open your business in Downtown Burlington?
We opened our clinic in downtown Burlington on Sept 25th, 2000.  It has been awesome to see how the Downtown Core has matured and been revitalized over this time.
  5. What made you choose Downtown Burlington?
We both grew up in Burlington so it was natural to come home to serve in our hometown once we became Doctors of Chiropractic.  When we were looking for locations, we loved the character and warmth that the core had to offer and we feel like our location in downtown Burlington chose us!  The big red brick Victorian house at the north end of the No Frills Plaza had a tiny sign in the side window that thankfully Geoff saw when driving up Brant St.  Fortunately we were able to start our business on the main floor and live on the upper floor – two of our kids were even born upstairs!  We have since moved our residence from the office but we still live downtown and love it!
  6. What are the biggest benefits of having your business located in the downtown Burlington core?
The biggest benefit of having our business in the core is being part of this great close community!  We live downtown, our kids go to school downtown, we have great friends in the core and there is a sense of taking care of each other in the core.  Our business is based upon relationships, and being in the core has allowed us to be involved in the happenings and in the lives of the people of the core.
  7. What other downtown businesses do you frequent and do business with?
So many great restaurants but Pho Mi T&T, Joe Dogs, Emma’s, DiMario’s, Blossom City, Lettuce Love are a few.  Some we do business with and frequent are Mirella’s Ladies Boutique, Brant Florist, Royal Bank, Joelle’s,  Kelly’s Bake shop, Cinestarz, Burrito Master’s.
  8. Do you have any Valentine’s Day traditions?
For Valentines day, we don’t have any real “traditions”.  Pre-kids we used to go out for dinner at the Keg or another nice restaurant.  Once the 4 kids came along it became more difficult with hockey usually falling on the day.  I guess the secret is to try to make every day special so we don’t need any special occasions to celebrate each other.  Thanks for this question – It’s been over 30 years together (married for over 20), and we still keep working to deepen our relationship so perhaps we will start a tradition this year!
