The Burlington Downtown Business Association (BDBA) represents the commercial property owners and business tenants within a defined geographic boundary in the heart of Burlington, Ontario, Canada.
Our northern edge sits at Brant Street and Ghent Avenue.
To the west, we stretch along Maple Avenue, from the lake right up to Ontario Street.
To the east, Martha Street marks the boundary (with a friendly wave to Torrance Street).
And to the south? Our showstopper: Spencer Smith Park, stretching along Lakeshore and embracing Old Lakeshore Road.
This is Burlington Downtown: compact, walkable, and full of character at every corner. A small footprint, with big energy!
As a recognized Business Improvement Area (BIA), the BDBA operates under provincial legislation that enables local business communities to come together to improve and promote their commercial district. This work is funded through a special tax levy collected from commercial properties within the BIA boundary.
The BDBA utilizes these funds to invest in initiatives that enhance the downtown experience, encompassing a range of activities such as marketing, events, placemaking, beautification, and advocacy. Our goal is to support local businesses, attract visitors, and foster a thriving, inclusive and equitable downtown that reflects Burlington’s unique identity.
