International Women’s Day: Meet Megg
March 8th is International Women’s Day and we’re celebrating by featuring some of Downtown Burlington’s female business owners & managers! With so many incredible business owners downtown we turned to our community to help us in the selection process by nominating a female business owner that inspires you.

Meet Megg Markettos, Marketing Manager at Pearl & Pine Retirement who was nominated for “her pride and ownership in her business as if it’s her own. She cares about the residents at Pearl and Pine as if they are her family. She is one of the most influential women in the downtown area that I know!”
We asked her a few questions:
What was the defining moment for you? When did you know that this was your career path?
I had a background in sales and marketing, was already working in Burlington (Aldershot BIA) and had been working with seniors in a fitness capacity. The opportunity with Pearl & Pine in the Sales and Marketing role offered the opportunity to mesh the three areas I was passionate about all into one position as Sales and Marketing Manager at Pearl & Pine Retirement. Landing here felt like home. Having the chance to immerse myself more fully in the Burlington community through both the BDBA and Chamber of Commerce has been a most wonderful, experience.
Who helped you get where you are today/influenced you to achieve your current accomplishments?
I would have to say my Dad has been my greatest driver in my career aspirations. He has always been a huge advocate of women in the workplace and beyond that, equality for women in the workplace. He has also instilled a great entrepreneurial spirit in me that I bring to both my self-employment opportunities and into corporate settings.
Since being at Pearl & Pine, the entire leadership team, led boldly by Shawna Legere Morrell, Executive Director, has been rewarding, and a great learning experience. Each member of that team brings different strengths and experiences that have molded me in my current position. There is not a better team in Burlington to be a part of!
As a celebrated successful female, what advice do you have for the next generation of successful women?
Be BOLD. Dream BIG. Stay FOCUSED. Treasure MENTORSHIP. Be GRATEFUL.
