Fall into the Arts: Burlington Performing Arts Centre

The air is turning crisp, the leaves are glowing in shades of gold and red, and the Burlington Performing Arts Centre doors are open for their season of unforgettable performances. As the chill sets in, there’s no better way to spend an evening than escaping indoors to the warmth of live music, theatre, and comedy. This October, the stage is set with something for everyone… whether you’re a lifelong jazz aficionado, a country music fan, or simply looking for a night out that stirs the soul.

FOR THE JAZZ LOVERS

Kick off the month with a celebration of a Canadian icon. Oscar Peterson Centennial brings together award-winning musicians for a heartfelt tribute, complete with stories from his daughter, Céline Peterson. It’s more than a concert — it’s a glimpse into the life of one of the greatest pianists in jazz history.

FOR THE OPERA & CLASSICAL CROWD

Prefer something grand and sweeping? Southern Ontario Lyric Opera’s Tosca will transport you to Rome with soaring voices and a full orchestra. Or, celebrate the season at the Burlington Symphony Orchestra’s Music of Thanksgiving, a program featuring Beethoven, Gershwin’s iconic Rhapsody in Blue, and more.

FOR THE STORYTELLERS & SONGWRITERS

October shines with tributes to legendary voices. Seven Drunken Nights: The Story of The Dubliners brings Ireland’s most beloved songs and stories to life. Then, In Spite of Ourselves gathers Canadian songwriters to honour the wit and wisdom of John Prine. Both promise evenings filled with nostalgia, laughter, and heart.

FOR A NIGHT OF LAUGHTER

If you like your classical music with a side of comedy, don’t miss Perk Up, Pianist! Sarah Hagen mixes Chopin and Debussy with hilarious storytelling, offering an hour of charm, wit, and virtuosity.

FOR THE BIG-STAGE EXPRIENCE

Sometimes you just want spectacle, and Burlington delivers. ICONS pays tribute to Elvis, Neil Diamond, and more in a dazzling, one-night-only concert. James Barker Band brings their country hits and small-town grit to the stage, while Classic Albums Live: Thriller recreates Michael Jackson’s legendary album note for note.

FOR THE CULTURALLY CURIOUS

Lebanese star Marwan Khoury joins the Canadian Arabic Orchestra for a breathtaking fusion of Arabic melodies and orchestral sounds. An evening of music that transcends borders and genres.

FOR THE LAUGH-OUT-LOUD CROWD

End the month with Canadian icon Rick Mercer, known for his sharp wit and signature rants. Mercer’s live show is part stand-up, part storytelling, and all-Canadian satire at its best.
