The Block Co was created with passion to bring together food lovers by showcasing cheese and charcuterie. The passion was contagious and ultimately extended to chef hosted event dinners. Developed by Troy Smith, a foodie and restauranteur , The Block Co became altogether something extraordinary. A local hub where you can find some of the worlds best cheese and charcuterie producers, local furniture restoration, local retailers of chef creativity, goods and provisions. Troy Smith stared out in the restaurant industry as a dish washer at the wee age of 15 and worked his way through every position , feeding a passion he didn’t know existed until later on in his career when he decided to take on a management position. From then on Troy worked with some of the best restauranteurs, chefs and owners. Developing his skills until finally landing a GM position. Troy says; “I’ve always known I’d be opening The Block Co one day, I just never new her name! When we started out the Block Co was something completely different , and only came to fruition in 2016. Now it’s taken on an identity of its own!”

Founded in the early stages of 2012 through a collective love of cigars, the desire to own and operate their own business and to create a space that would make everyone who walks through the door feel welcome, comfortable and included, came Village Cigar Company & Barbershop. Burlington natives Jerry Filice & Ryan Baker longed for their own business in their home town. After signing the lease in Village Square in beautiful Downtown Burlington, Ontario in May 2012, they wasted no time starting demolition just moments after the keys landed in the palms of their hands. The next two months were spent relentlessly charging forward to build the shop they always envisioned. And from that shop build, grew a community onto itself. They opened our doors to much anticipation on July 20th, 2012. Since that date, they have not only thrived in the revitalized historic Village Square, but also expanded with two more locations in both Downtown Oakville & Downtown Guelph. Their meticulously maintained, custom built walk-in humidors are their ultimate pride and joy but that’s just the beginning of the experience. They are more than happy to spend time in there with you, talking about your likes and preferences, but it’s when you step outside of the humidor where the community truly takes shape. You are welcome at any time to sit outside with your newly acquired cigar and relax as we take in a movie, a game, or just to watch the world go by during this time of bliss. For those of you who wish to feel as though you have stepped back in time, they also offer traditional barbering services.
