Emma's Back Porch Mural
Posted: Jul 12, 2018

This past winter Emma’s Back Porch decided to commission a mural for out front of their restaurant. They set out on a search for a local artist via social media. The response was amazing from our local community and all kinds of artists were interested in the project and wanted to know more.

New to this, they wanted to figure out the best way to be fair to the artists and achieve their goal. So they enlisted the help of local artist Tom Sachade, Artist and Angela Paparizo, Manager of Arts & Culture to guide them along the way.
Many submissions and ideas flowed in and they narrowed them down to the top 3. These candidates came and met with owner, Craig Kowalchuck, to present their ideas and were blown away by the creativity. So much talent!
Claire Hall of Claire Hall Design was chosen as the winner and the artist of choice to complete the mural! Claire has designed and painted Emma’s BBQ Bear and he sits proudly out front of the restaurant.
We encourage everyone to come on down to the Porch and see him, and of course to snap a selfie.  Be sure to tag #emmasbbqbear when you do!
