Lauren & Sandra's Memory
Posted: Dec 11, 2020

The Burlington Downtown Business Association is celebrating 40 years of memories! We’re inviting all residents and business owners to join us for a walk down memory lane.  Maybe you got engaged under the cherry blossoms at Spencer Smith Park,  celebrated a special milestone at one of our restaurants, saw your favourite band at Sound of Music, started your first job at one of our retailers, or cut the ribbon to open the doors of your first business? Share your favourite memory of Burlington Downtown for a chance to make even more memories with one of 3 grand-prize overnight visits to our beautiful downtown core. View full contest here.

Downtown Burlington has and always will be a very special place for my wife and I.  We have lived in this city for just under four years now, but so many valuable memories have happened here, particularly in the downtown core.

There are two big reasons why Downtown Burlington means so much to us – it was the host to two very important beginnings. The first being our first date. It was an informal one, a simple summer walk along the pier, where good conversation and good company meet. The second, was over ten years later (only a few steps from our first date) at Spencer’s at the Waterfront, where we found ourselves officially married. On July 19, 2019, in the presence of family and friends, we merged a decade of our lives together into marriage. It’s safe to say it was literally the best day ever. Spencer’s at the Waterfront was not only a stunning venue to host a gorgeous summer wedding, but the venue staff and the execution of our ceremony was absolutely top notch. It felt beautiful, nostalgic and of course, totally memorable. The night previous to our wedding we stayed with our parties at the Waterfront Hotel, preparing in anticipation for the biggest day of our lives. We spent the warm summer night enjoying dinner with our parties in the Village Square – a quaint and relaxed charm that Downtown Burlington offers, not to mention one of our favourite spots!

The feeling and experience from those days will forever hold a special place in our hearts, as will downtown Burlington. Every time we are there, simply walking our dog or taking in the vibrant local businesses, we are reminded of how much the downtown core means to us. Each time we come Downtown, we discover more new and exciting things. This is what makes the core so special, regardless of season; it’s a rich community that has so much to offer and could never become dull. We cherish every moment we spend here and look forward to continue making Downtown Burlington a part of our life story.
