Burlington, Ontario the city we now call home. We moved here from Toronto earlier this year and we are extremely happy with our decision. When we had first mentioned Burlington to our family and friends they immediately believed Burlington to be “small town” suburbia with no amenities in sight. Well this is quite the contrary. Burlington has a vast amount of amenities within walking distance or a very short (5 minute drive away). We live in the south part of Burlington (south of the QEW) so hanging out in downtown Burlington is very convenient for our family. I spend a great deal of time in the Village square, the businesses that encompass the Village Square have to be the cutest most chic boutiques I’ve visited in a long time. It is the perfect place for a quiet dinner, enjoy a delicious coffee, grab a drink with some friends or in my case the perfect stroller walk with my 8 week old side-kick!
I’ve had the pleasure of visiting some of the amazing small shops and restaurants within the Village Square and I wanted to share my experiences with you all.
Spa in the Village has to be one of the BEST spa’s I have been to and I have been to many might I add. The services, the staff and the ambiance were dreamy. It is a family-owned spa so the service you receive is intimate and top-notch! We had a girl’s spa day and we were treated like queens.
Styled Lounge and Liv Bella Tanning (located inside Styled Lounge) I love the concept of Styled Lounge (blowouts, braids, nails, make-up and sugaring) they also have their liquor license so if you want a mimosa during your manicure Styled Lounge is the place to be! Liv Bella offers (by appointment only) organic and vegan based spray tans! Jessica is a gem and also is a fabulous photographer (Jessica Waugh Photography).
Lola Choco Bar and Sweet House has the best sweets in town! The café itself is quaint, cozy and full of vintage character. We absolutely love it; we go there for gelato, lemonade and their delicious chocolate truffles.
The Hood Restaurant is a little hidden gem in the square. They have delicious sandwiches, wraps and appetizers! We indulged when we visited The Hood and complimented the Chef on his mouth-watering meals. If you like Mediterranean than The Hood is a must try!
Now, if you venture onto Brant Street right outside of the Village square you will find this garden oasis, Centro Market. They have an array of plants, flowers, garden essentials, patio furniture as well as a Farmer’s Market every Sunday morning until the Fall.
Downtown Burlington is a special place, I had the opportunity to speak with a few business owners, and they were kind and hospitable. As a new comer to Burlington these types of experiences really set the bar high. We are proud to call Burlington our home and we are just getting started in soaking up all of what this beautiful city has to offer!
