DEAR GRANDPA, IT’S MICHAEL FUNDRAISER

April 6 @ 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm

$5

Dear Grandpa, It’s Michael is an autism awareness family short film project. It will depict the life of Michael Whitell and his triumphs over living with autism as he writes a letter to his deceased Grandfather in heaven detailing the full life he has enjoyed and how he’s looking forward to his bright future! It is being produced by My Three Angels Pictures Inc.

Through Michael’s journey of living with autism, as well as some of the accomplishments and obstacles that have brought him to where he is today, we hope to intimately share with you a glimpse into some aspects of the autistic and neurodivergent communities. Karen is prepared to support her son through anything, no matter the difficulty. Together, and with the support of programs, Michael has beat some incredible odds and has achieved many personal goals! Theirs is the story of the unbreakable bond between a mother and son — a bond which helps Michael to not only overcome but to shatter all expectations.

On Saturday, April 6th 2024, we will be hosting a public fundraiser event at the Joe Dog’s Gasbar Grill in Burlington, Ontario! This event will be a celebration of Karen and her son Michael Whitell, as he concludes his freshmen year at Conestoga College. Attendees will get to hear speeches from the Dear Grandpa team and have access to the unique facilities at Joe Dog’s. We will also be showing the full short of our first Dear Grandpa Teaser.

At the fundraiser, our guest speaker will be Stefano Di Cecco, who is the Ambassador of Waves of Change for Autism. Proceeds will also go to finish the funding for the second installment of our 4- part series which begins preproduction this April.
Our mission: ENGAGE! EMPOWER! EMPLOY!
With a staggering 86% of the adult autistic community facing unemployment, our commitment is resolute. We aspire to make an impact by actively hiring 30% to 40% of our cast and crew from the spectrum for each project. Our vision extends beyond mere representation; we strive to lead in inclusion, creating an environment where mentorship and teaching flourish, while also expanding our community. Together, we all can thrive!

All proceeds from this event will go towards funding the next stage of our film project in telling the inspiring story of Michael Whitell! Tickets will be sold for $5 per person at the door and kids under 12 will be allowed in free.

We will share more details in the weeks leading to this event, please check back on this event page and Dear Grandpa, It’s Michael’s social media for updates!
