Edgar Family Chiropractic: Meet Bubba & Maja
Posted: Apr 29, 2016

In the spirit of Mother’s Day this May we want to celebrate all the moms that make our downtown a special place to work and play.

We applaud and recognize those mothers & daughters and mothers & sons that work together in business everyday.

Bubba & Maja from Edgar Family Chiropractic

  1. How long have you worked together?

Three and a half years

  1. Why did you decide to work together?

After working at other clinics for a number of years, I had a desire to open my own clinic and create the type of healing environment that I felt was best for my patients and my style of practice. I have always taken business advice from my mom because she has been a life long successful entrepreneur. So when I decided that I would open up my own clinic, naturally I knew I wanted her to be involved to some extent. She was initially going to come on board for a year to help us jump start the business. She has plans to open her own business in the near future (stay tuned!!), but thankfully she is still working with us and has been instrumental in helping me with many difficult business decisions and growing a stable and successful business.

  1. How do you balance work-life with your personal relationship?

This has proven to be a challenge at times because we have always been close as mother-daughter. We rarely go a day without talking to each other or seeing each other. It is easy to fall into the trap of always talking about the business. Over time we have both become really good at setting boundaries and being honest with each other. If one of us is not in the mood to talk business, we let each other know and set an alternate time to talk about it. If we know we have to discuss something we set aside a specific amount of time to talk business and then we move on. Sundays are also reserved for family time only!

  1. What’s the best thing about working with my mom?

She is always in a good mood and has the best work ethic! She sets the tone for the day and uplifts both myself and my patients. I never have to worry about clinic operations and how my patients are being treated wen she is around! I know she is just as invested in the success of my business as I am and to have someone like that in your corner is just the best feeling for a business owner!

  1. Mother’s day plans?

We love cooking together and spending time with the rest of the family. I know that my mom would say spending time with me and her granddaughter Olivia is the best gift she could ask for.

  1. Anything special to say about my mom?

Although she is my mom and I am obviously biased, she really is a gem and has always gone above and beyond to sacrifice herself for the good of her children. She is a strong woman who has gone through many trials and tribulations in her life and has never let it get her down and has taught me to be the same. She instilled in me a good work ethic and a “you can do anything” attitude which has helped me to succeed in both life and business. Being a mom of one daughter and another on the way, I can only hope that my daughters will feel the same about me one day!
