In 1977, a small group of young Canadians of Ukrainian descent showed a keen interest in keeping their dance culture alive. Their perseverance led them to their first major performance in Dauphin, Manitoba.

They adopted the name “Tyrsa”, a wild grass that grows in Ukraine. Over time, Tyrsa had grown into an accomplished dance group with a proud 31 year history in Halton Region and in Halton’s Ukrainian Community.

Historically, Tyrsa has performed at a variety of festivals and events, both near and abroad. In addition to performing across Southern Ontario and Dauphin, the Senior group has performed in diverse venues: Expo 86, festivals in Drummondville, Quebec, Rochester, New York City, and culminating in a five-city performance tour across the Ukraine.

Tyrsa has been blessed with talented choreographers, whose dedication and artistic talents have contributed to both the reputation of the dance troupe and the enrichment of their students’ lives.

Tyrsa’s foremost goal has been encourage our children to live their cultural through peer participation, ensuring that our dynamic Ukrainian heritage continues to thrive in our multicultural community.

Our doors are open to new members and alumni alike. We invite you to participate in preserving a 31 year tradition!

Santosha Yoga Burlington.png
541 Brant Street, 2nd floor, door 5, Burlington, Ontario

Our name “Santosha” comes from the ancient language of Sanskrit. It means contentment,  accepting where you are, being present, and being happy.

We hold the premise of yoga at the core of all our classes  – unity of body, mind and spirit through meditation in action.

Whether you are new to yoga, or have experience in the practice, the tradition of B.K.S Iyengar which is taught at Santosha will lead you safely and intelligently into better understanding of how your body and mind can reach that state of contentment.

Owner, Davina, is a Certified Iyengar Yoga teacher, the only one between Etobicoke and London, and as such is entitled to use the Certification mark.

Certified Iyengar Yoga Teachers are held to unusually rigorous standards, earning their certification after years of dedicated practice, training, and evaluation by trained, qualified assessors. The Iyengar Yoga Certification Mark is your guarantee of a yoga teacher who is able to meet you right where you are.

We are taught how to guide students of all ages and abilities. Deep-seated understanding and experience of the yoga asanas (postures) allow instructors to teach appropriately to the group in front of them, whether they are younger, older, athletic, or have physical limitations.

What is Iyengar yoga?
From the beginning, Iyengar Yoga develops strength, stamina, concentration, coordination, flexibility, and more. Using physical alignment as a starting point, Iyengar Yoga encourages the spread of intelligence throughout the body, the growth of self-awareness, and an experience of the asanas as a form of “meditation in action.”
Ability to clearly demonstrate the postures. Sharp observation skills. Effective teaching points. These are the marks of a Certified Iyengar Yoga teacher. Classes are sequenced to promote health and skill in the body and stability in the mind. This total approach ensures that students progress from posture to posture, class to class, and year to year.
Students in Iyengar Yoga begin with basic standing poses. In time, forward bends, back bends, twists, inversions, restorative poses and more are taught. As students mature, so does the practice. Teachers may use props such as blankets, blocks, belts, and wall ropes to help students benefit from the poses regardless of their physical condition or level of experience.

Mr. Iyengar’s revolutionary use of yoga props is now ubiquitous in yoga of all styles.
Yoga is union—the union of mind, body, and spirit. The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali lay out an eight-step path towards this spiritual fulfillment. Iyengar Yoga, firmly grounded in ancient tradition, guides modern students along this eight-fold path in a way that’s practical, experiential, and intensely personal.
In B.K.S. Iyengar’s unique teachings, the yoga asanas and Pranayama (the control of the breath) create the springboard that allows students to penetrate beyond the outer, physical layers and explore the inner layers of mind, energy, and spirit. The two quests of the physical and the spiritual are not separate but interdependent parts of a total approach to self-mastery and enlightened living.

Our Haven.jpg
480 Brant Street, Units 5 & 6, Burlington, ON
Our Haven is here for you to dance, open & let your heart out.

Before Our Haven was born, we were widely known as Bombshell Boutique (and before that, Brass Bombshells), but the slogan has always remained the same, CONFIDENCE IS OUR BUSINESS and yes…confidence is important…but so is being seen, so is mental health, so is every other aspect of your personality that makes you exactly who you are.

A little bit of back story…

The name Our Haven actually came from within the community we already had. No matter where the studio was located, who was in it, what instructor was teaching, it was always referred to as a SAFE SPACE because there was never any judgement, never the sense of feeling like you have to be just as good as the person next to you. From the term ‘safe space’ came Our Haven and now here we are!

There have been countless times where the studio has been called a second home to its family members, because that is what we are, family. You are not our clients, the moment you step foot into a class you become a part of a community that is there for you, supports you, and loves you no matter what. That’s what family is right? At least according to google, the term ‘family’ is defined by “a group consisting of parents and children living together in a household”. Well, Our Haven has parents, cousins, sisters, brothers, and everyone under the sun taking classes, so to me, that’s a family.

As adults, we often forget that life is about more than just work and paying bills, life is about creating relationships with those we love. Relationships are the most important thing to us in our lives as they are the source of all our best memories and at the end of the day, we are not going to wish for more likes on our IG pages, we are going to wish we spent more time with the people we love.

BellyUp BellyDance Studio.png
2061 Pine Street, Burlington, ON, Canada

BellyUp’s mission has always been to elevate the artistic integrity of Oriental dance as a high art form through ongoing training and education via our classes, specialty workshops, master teacher training intensives and events.
We are passionate about Bellydance and it is a way of life for many of us both in and out of the studio. The dance form has far reaching benefits that extend well off the dance floor which are embraced in our daily lives. Our classes are designed to leave you feeling inspired and empowered, more aware and appreciative of your body and all that it is capable of.  No other dance form can awaken the senses within you like Oriental dance can. You will feel alive again, desired, freer, happier, sexier and lighter in every way. Every woman should learn to move this way!

In 2006, owner and founder, Joharah, opened BellyUp with a dream of bringing the local dance community together through Bellydance.  Since then, BellyUp’s community has grown by leaps and bounds.  Why?   Two simple ingredients… our atmosphere; people call us their home away from home, and our attitude; everyone is accepted and welcomed like family. Students from all walks of life come to our studio; every profession, all ages, shapes and sizes. Some are still with us from our very first class!  Others have moved away and have gone on to realize some amazing life goals.
BellyUp is proud to have become a recognized leader in Egyptian style bellydance not only in Canada but in North America.  In our ten years of excellence, we have hosted the “A” list of Egyptian and North American Master teachers and have developed a reputation as a first-class training event organizer.

Our passion for high standards of dance training is evidenced by the many talented dancers we have produced. Passion, hardwork, self-love and perseverance are routinely encouraged.  We love a never-give-up-attitude towards dance and whatever else you do in life. If what we teach is not your cup-of-tea, we encourage you to use dance as a stepping stone to get out there and find your passion whatever it may be. Bellydance will make you feel stronger, more confident and self assured. And if Bellydance becomes your passion, then you’ve found the perfect dance home at BellyUp to embark on a journey of study, adventure, music, and excitement that could alter your life’s course and last a lifetime!

You’ll be captivated by our lush ambiance that’s designed to enhance your visual senses. But more than that, you’ll find precise and safe instruction designed to teach you the dance form in a very comprehensive way. We teach Bellydance as an art form first but if your reasons for joining us are purely for fun and exercise, you’ll enjoy a good dance workout, too. If your interests lie in learning about the culture and the history behind the dance, then you’ll love our teachers’ stories and anecdotes that connect the movements to the history of Oriental and Folklore dance. We move through a vigorous, content-filled class that will leave you feeling rejuvenated, awakened and satisfied.
Bar None Fitness Studio & Shake Bar.png
2099 Bates Common, Burlington, ON, Canada
Bar None Fitness was created with the purpose of changing the way people think about, and do exercise.

Our studio is one that is dedicated to welcoming everyone; people of all ages, all walks of life, and all abilities. The environment that we have built lends itself to building confidence, self-esteem, and health as a whole.

We are believers of nourished fitness –living a whole and healthy life, rather than just being fixated on the appearance of fitness. Because truly feeling fit and healthy will always translate into looking fit, and appearing fit does not necessarily mean we have healthy bodies inside, nourished fitness is a revitalizing practice and lifestyle that channels and drives the dynamic exercise we teach at Bar None Fitness Studio. To achieve these superior results, we have paired with Dr. Nandor Bujusz PhD(c), RHN, who will so passionately guide you in your healing from the inside out. You will absolutely shock yourself with the results you can achieve with this functional medicine approach, paired with our exclusive exercise techniques. This, really is, the path to being the best you can be in your mind, body and spirit as a whole.

Bar None also features a Shake Bar in-studio!
