Body Image Workshops
Posted: Apr 4, 2017

The Arbutus Collective consists of colleagues, who guide those in need, struggling with body image distortion, low self-esteem and disordered eating, towards healthy, happy balance.
They are offering 3 upcoming 8-week session workshops focusing on achieving these goals.

1. Emotional and Intellectual Self defence

Elevate Your Awesomeness through Mind Fitness
Runs Wednesdays, from April 19 to June 7, 2017
7:30 pm – 8:30 pm at the Arbutus Collective downtown office:
600 Brant Street Burlington ON L7R 2G9
Fee: $250 (+HST) – Register here.

These studio sessions introduce students to understanding that their thoughts, opinions are valuable! In fact, awesome. These Intellectual Self defence sessions will teach how to build an arsenal of tools in order to build resiliency, confidence, stamina, reflection and intelligence resiliency. Like in any physical self defence class, where students are taught to centre themselves, focus, then respond with selective defensive moves- completed with speed and power- intellectual self defense asks us to do the same with our minds. We will learn how to become mentally, intellectually and emotionally centred. Students will build confidence in their intellectual abilities to witness, listen, reflect, and influence change. These intellectual fitness sessions will build minds, self- worth, personal and community contributions. Ultimately, empowering our voices. The intent of the conversational classes are to educate, empower and inspire the developing skills of reflection, intellectual protection and communication skills towards cultivating self respect and self efficacy.

This is an 8 week, closed group, which will build upon the skills learned each week.
