After dozens of amazing submissions, we are pleased to announce Kendra Willard as the winner of our Perfect Day in the Hood Contest! Kendra’s name was selected randomly by BDBA Board Chair Jason Stoner. Next week she will be officially presented with her My Perfect Day package. Thank you to everyone who participated, we will continue to feature entries over the next few weeks.
Kendra, a resident of Burlington describes how she would spend her ideal day in downtown Burlington:
By the time we arrive downtown on our bikes it’ll be about mid-morning. Riding our bikes is makes spending the day downtown easy. Our son can’t walk to long or too far without tiring, or getting distracted. And there’s only so many times we can re-park and put him in and out of the car seat.
First stop Tamp Coffee and Co for a tea/juice and a wholesome snack.
Then we’d bike to the Burlington Performing Arts Centre and take in one of their kid friendly shows. Something we’ve always wanted to do, but haven’t yet.
For lunch, we’d walk to Pane Fresco to enjoy some panini’s on the outdoor patio. Their Fig Panini is a personal favourite.
Then my husband and son would ride their bikes to the waterfront to play and explore the pier and playground. Maybe take a nap under a tree.
Meanwhile I would enjoy shopping. Alone! I’d stalk up on my lemon olive oil from The Olive Oil Dispensary. It’s my secret weapon for getting oil of oregano down –key for my illness prevention efforts. Then I’d browse for dresses, and browse for home and garden inspiration. I’d definitely stop at Centro Garden, not leaving empty handed.
We’d probably eat dinner at Mikado and get our warm miso soup and yummy California rolls before riding back home on the Centennial Pathway again.
