Downtown Burlington is a wonderful place to take your time and explore with children. It combines the aura and charm of a small town but the excitement and bustle of an urban centre.

Start:

    1. Park in Garage
      414 Locust Street – Directions
    2. Crema Gelato
      1477 Lakeshore Road – Directions
      cremadigelato.ca
Enjoy natural artisan gelato, made daily by an European pastry chef. A can’t miss taste experience.
    3. Boardwalk Stroll & Discovery Landing
      Spencer Smith Park – Directions
The Discovery Landing park features and incredible play structure and swing set that is an amazing playtime experience. Additionally the park features a water feature for the kids to cool down so bring a bathing suit or change of clothes! After that, pop into the cafe under the Discovery Landing and enjoy a snack and a coffee while watching the motorized boats in the pond.
    4. Burlington Arts Centre
      1333 Lakeshore Road – Directions
      thebac.ca
The BAC is a wonderland of sights, smells and textures for children. Home of a variety of art forms including clay and sculptural arts as well as painting exhibits, the centre also hosts a beautiful garden sun room which they’ll love to explore while admiring the installation sculptures which inhabit the space.
    5. A Different Drummer Books
      513 Locust Street – Directions
      differentdrummerbooks.ca
A favourite of kids, the Ian Elliot and staff at the Different Drummer have a wonderful selection of kids books within their unique space within the century home. Comfortable and to scale for the little ones, the kids really love to lay on the floor while listening to a reading by parents or staff or explore new titles on their own.
    6. The Works Burger Bistro
      443 Brant Street – Directions
      worksburger.com
Finally zip across Brant Street toward City Hall and pop into the Works for dinner and an old school milkshake served in a mason jar. The family oriented restaurant is full of texture and sounds to captivate the kids and if the weather is right, the garage doors open at the front so that you can feel as though you are sitting right on the street.
